Once in Granada we stayed at the Casa de San Fransisco, a small hotel owned by Peace Corps alum. It is a very nice, homey place and the staff was welcoming and efficient. We walked all over Granada which has an old world feel and lots of interesting things to see. From pictures, I imagine Granada resembles some of the Carribean Islands.

Nicaragua Vacation

Kyle left Sault Ste. Marie on May 12, 2009 for his Peace Corps assignment in Nicaragua. We started talking about taking a trip to see him right away. Tickets were purchased November 10, 2009 for departure February 26, 2010.

We left the Sault on 2/25th to spend the night in New Hudson with Darlene and Warren. I say spend the night loosely because the flight departure was for 6:30 a.m. which meant we had to leave at 4:00 a.m. to get to the airport. Warren dropped us off and it seems we were on the move from that time. The flight from Detroit was delayed for deicing the plane but ended up only five minutes late to Houston. We just made our connection to Managua. Kyle was waiting for us at the airport and there is no way to describe how great it was to see him. I was proud of the fact that I didn't cry uncontrollably though it did cross my mind. Progress through immigration was quick and we were in and out of the airport in less than an hour.
